Voice Logging (Recommended)
Voice logging is the fastest way to capture meals. Just speak naturally about what you ate.
Open the food logging screen
From the Nutrition card on your Home screen, tap the meal-log pill (it shows Log Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner depending on the time of day).
Tap the + icon
Tap the + icon next to the search bar to reveal logging options.
Select Voice
Tap Voice from the options. The app will begin listening.
Speak naturally
Describe your meal conversationally. For example:
- "I had a grilled chicken salad with balsamic dressing"
- "Two eggs, three strips of bacon, and coffee with cream"
- "A large pepperoni pizza, about 4 slices"
Review and confirm
QBod's AI reads your description and shows the matching foods with estimated portions. Check the list, change any amounts if needed, and tap Log to save.
Photo Logging
Perfect for when you're eating out or have a visually distinct meal. Take a picture and let AI do the work.
Access photo logging
From the Nutrition card on your Home screen, tap the meal-log pill (it shows Log Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner depending on the time of day). Then tap the + icon next to the search bar and select Camera, take a photo or a 3-second video scan (it reads your plate from multiple angles), or pick a photo from your gallery.
Take or select a photo
Choose to take a new photo or select one from your camera roll. For best results, capture all food items clearly with good lighting.
Review AI analysis
QBod's AI finds the foods in the photo and estimates portions. Check the results, fix any wrong items, and confirm to log.
Note on Accuracy
AI portion sizes are estimates based on the photo. For exact tracking (especially for weight goals), check a nutrition label or measure your portions yourself.
Barcode Scanning
This is the most accurate way to log packaged foods. A barcode links straight to verified nutrition data.
Access barcode scanner
From the Nutrition card on your Home screen, tap the meal-log pill (it shows Log Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner depending on the time of day). Then tap the + icon next to the search bar and select Barcode.
Scan the barcode
Point your camera at the product's barcode. The scanner finds it and looks it up for you.
Adjust serving size
The product appears with its nutrition info. Set the serving size to match what you ate, then tap Log.
Text Search
Search our database of over 5 million foods. Good for finding specific items or restaurant meals.
Open the search
From the Nutrition card on your Home screen, tap the meal-log pill (it shows Log Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner depending on the time of day). Tap into the search bar to begin typing.
Type your search
Enter the food name. AI helps find the best matches. You can search for plain foods ("grilled chicken breast"), brands ("Chobani Greek yogurt"), or restaurants ("Chipotle chicken bowl").
Select and log
Choose the matching item from results. Adjust the serving size and tap Log.

Tips for Accurate Logging
- Be specific about portions. "A large apple" and "an apple" are not the same
- Say how it was cooked. "Fried" and "grilled" can change the calories a lot
- Don't forget condiments. Sauces, dressings, and oils add up
- Log your drinks. Soda, alcohol, and fancy coffee drinks have calories too
- Use Recent Foods. Tap your history to re-log regular meals fast (free, no credits)
