Importing Data

Apple Health sync + app migrations

How QBod Is Different

How is QBod different from AI health chatbots?

+

QBod is an integrated tracking and coaching system, not a chatbot that connects to other apps. Key differences:

  • Native data: QBod is your nutrition tracker, workout logger, and recovery monitor. Coach Q sees everything natively, not imported from separate apps.
  • Proactive coaching: QBod sends you personalized daily messages based on your actual data. It doesn't wait for you to ask questions.
  • Cross-domain intelligence: Your coach understands how yesterday's sleep affects today's workout, or how this week's protein intake relates to your strength progress. This requires integrated data, not app connections.
  • Structured guidance: QBod provides specific, actionable recommendations (daily targets, workout plans, weekly priorities), not open-ended conversations.

Think of it this way: AI chatbots can answer questions about health data you give them. QBod is the health data. It coaches you based on it, before you ask.

Is QBod's AI coaching science-backed?

+

Yes. QBod's coaching recommendations are designed to align with guidelines from recognized health and fitness organizations:

  • Nutrition: Protein timing and macro distribution guidance informed by International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN) position stands
  • Fitness: Activity recommendations aligned with American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) guidelines; progressive overload principles informed by National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) standards
  • Recovery: Sleep architecture targets informed by American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) recommendations
  • Vitals: Blood pressure and glucose tracking uses clinical categories from American Heart Association (AHA) and American Diabetes Association (ADA)

Important: QBod provides educational information and tracking tools. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. All health decisions should be made in consultation with qualified healthcare professionals.

What does "cross-domain intelligence" mean?

+

Cross-domain intelligence means Coach Q analyzes patterns across nutrition, fitness, and recovery, not just within each area. Examples:

  • Sleep → Performance: "Your HRV is lower on days following less than 6 hours of sleep. Consider prioritizing rest tonight."
  • Nutrition → Recovery: "Protein consistency and recovery patterns can be reviewed together."
  • Stress → Cascade: "High stress days correlate with reduced sleep quality, lower HRV, and decreased protein intake for you."

This analysis requires seeing all your data in one system. Apps that connect separate tools can't reliably identify these patterns.

How does QBod protect my health data?

+

Your data security is foundational to QBod:

  • Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256)
  • Row-level security: Database policies ensure you can only access your own data. Even our own systems can't access user data without explicit authorization.
  • No data sales: We never sell your personal information to third parties
  • AI processing: Your data is processed to generate personalized insights but is not used to train foundation AI models
  • Data portability: You can export or delete your data at any time

For complete details, see our Privacy Policy and Security page.

Why use QBod instead of separate nutrition and workout apps?

+

Separate apps create data silos. Your calorie tracker doesn't know you trained legs yesterday. Your workout app doesn't know you're under on protein. Your coaching program doesn't see either.

QBod connects these dots:

  • Your Q-Score reflects execution across nutrition, fitness, and recovery, weighted to your specific goal
  • Daily coaching messages reference what you actually logged, not generic advice
  • Weekly insights identify cross-domain patterns you'd never see in separate apps
  • Goal progress calculations factor in all relevant data, not just one metric

The result: three apps' work in one place. The coaching is specific to your life and updates daily. And you pay for one subscription, not three.

Getting Started

What is QBod?

+

QBod is a calorie scanner and coach in one app. You log food, workouts, sleep, and weight in one place. Coach Q, the coach that learns you, reads all of it.

That one-place design is the point: when your nutrition, training, and recovery live in one connected system, your coaching can connect them. Last night's sleep can shape today's workout. A confusing week on the scale gets explained instead of guessed at.

Start simple: Snap your first meal. A 3-second video scan reads your plate and logs your macros. That small habit is what everything else builds on.

Who is QBod designed for?

+

QBod is designed for adults who want a simple way to track nutrition and fitness. Maybe you want to build strength, improve heart health, manage body composition, or just keep healthy habits. The app adapts to your goals.

Note: QBod is an informational tool and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Always consult a healthcare professional before starting any fitness or nutrition program.

Is QBod suitable for beginners?

+

Yes. You don't need to know macros, sets, or training jargon to start. QBod handles the science so you can focus on showing up:

  • An exercise library with video demonstrations for proper form
  • Workouts generated for your equipment and experience level, no programming knowledge needed
  • Food logging as simple as a photo, with detailed entry available when you want it
  • Coach Q to answer your questions about food, training, recovery, and progress in plain English

A good first week: Snap your meals. Follow one generated workout. Let your plan adjust from there.

What makes QBod different from other fitness apps?

+

Most fitness apps track one thing well. QBod is a connected coaching system. It tracks and coaches in the same app. Here is what that gets you:

  • Connected data: Your nutrition, workouts, and recovery live in one system. Coach Q sees everything natively, not fragments imported from other apps.
  • Recovery-aware workouts: Your training reads last night's sleep and recovery and adjusts before you start, not just what you lifted last time.
  • Proactive coaching: Personalized daily messages based on your actual data. QBod doesn't wait for you to ask.
  • One honest number: Your Q-Score grades your habits across food, training, and recovery, weighted to your goal, so you always know where you stand.
  • Flexible logging: Use a 3-second video scan, photo, voice, barcode, or manual entry. Choose what works for you.

For more details on our approach, see our AI Transparency page.

Can I use QBod without gym equipment?

+

Yes. QBod supports bodyweight exercises and can generate workouts based on whatever equipment you have available, including no equipment at all.

During setup, you can specify your available equipment (home gym, commercial gym, bodyweight only, resistance bands, etc.), and QBod will generate appropriate workouts.

Does QBod support both strength training and cardio?

+

Yes. QBod programs both, and they share one brain:

  • Strength: Workouts built for your goal, equipment, and history, with sets, reps, and rest periods, and weight progression as you get stronger
  • Cardio: Structured running, cycling, swimming, and HIIT sessions, including intervals and endurance work

Because everything lives in one system, your workouts also read your recent sleep and recovery. They can ease off when your body needs it. A standalone workout app can't see that.

Tip: save workouts you like as templates and reuse them without consuming additional credits.

How do I log food with photos?

+

To log food using a photo:

  • From the Home tab, tap the meal-log pill on the Nutrition card
  • Tap the + icon next to the search bar
  • Select Camera (to take a photo) or Image Upload (to select from your camera roll)
  • The AI will analyze the image and identify foods with estimated portions
  • Review and adjust the results, then confirm to log

Photo analysis costs 5 credits per use. For best results, ensure good lighting and capture all items in the frame. Want a more accurate read? Choose the 3-second video scan instead. It sees your plate from many angles, which helps with portion estimates.

Note: AI-estimated nutritional values are approximations. For precise tracking, consider verifying with nutrition labels or manual entry.

Credits & Billing

What are credits and how do they work?

+

Credits are the currency for QBod's AI-powered features. Every Snap, Coach Q message, and AI workout draws from one monthly credit pool. Different actions cost different amounts, based on how much work they take.

Why it works this way: instead of locking features behind walls, almost everything is open. Credits just meter how much AI you use. You can see the cost of each action up front. No surprise charges. No hidden meters.

Your monthly credit allowance refreshes at the beginning of each billing cycle. Manual logging, your charts, and the exercise library never cost credits.

How much does each action cost?

+

Heavier AI work costs more; everyday actions cost little or nothing:

Action Credits
Text search 1
Voice log 5
Photo analysis 5
Barcode scan 5
AI workout 10
Coach chat 10
Weekly check-in 25
Manual food logging 0
Workout templates 0

Tip: save workouts you like as templates, and log familiar foods by hand. Both are free, so your credits go to the moments that need AI.

What's included in each subscription tier?

+

Most QBod features are on every paid tier. The main difference is your monthly AI credits. Some coaching features, like live in-workout coaching with Coach Q, are Premium only.

Essentials
1,000 /mo
Light AI usage

Premium bonus: Coaching Insights and personalized AI analysis snippets displayed throughout your analytics and progress charts.

Pricing: QBod Free includes 50 credits so you can try the AI features. Essentials is $9.99/month or $59.99/year. Premium is $19.99/month or $119.99/year. Both paid tiers start with a free 7-day trial, no payment up front.

How does the monthly credit allowance work?

+

Your subscription includes a monthly credit allowance that refreshes with each billing cycle. When your subscription renews, your credit balance resets to your tier's full allocation.

What happens when I run out of credits?

+

When your credits reach zero, AI-powered features become temporarily unavailable until your next billing cycle or until you upgrade to a higher tier.

You can still use these features without credits:

  • Manual food search and logging
  • Exercise library and workout tracking
  • Progress tracking and charts
  • Body measurements logging

How do I see my credit usage?

+

Your credit balance is displayed in the app's Profile screen. You'll see a Credits card showing:

  • Credits used vs. total available
  • Visual progress bar
  • Days until reset
  • Recent activity log

Logging & Features

How do I log food?

+

QBod offers multiple ways to log your meals. Start by tapping the meal-log pill on the Nutrition card from the Home tab, then:

  • Voice: Tap the + icon, select Voice, and describe your meal naturally (5 credits)
  • Photo or video scan: Tap the + icon and snap a photo, or a 3-second video that reads your plate from multiple angles for better portion accuracy (5 credits)
  • Barcode: Tap the + icon, select Barcode to scan packaged foods (5 credits)
  • Text Search: Type in the search bar for AI-powered food search (1 credit)
  • Manual: Browse Recent Foods list or saved Meals/Recipes without AI (free)

What features are free (no credits required)?

+

Many core features don't require credits:

  • Manual food search and logging
  • Full exercise video library (1,500+ exercises with video demos)
  • Manual workout logging
  • Progress tracking and analytics
  • Body measurements and weigh-ins
  • Goal progress visualization
  • Daily motivational messages
  • 1,000+ curated recipe library
  • Meal planning and grocery list generation

How does Coach Q work?

+

Coach Q is QBod's coach. It learns your habits, preferences, and goals. It answers from your real data, not generic advice. Ask Coach Q about your food, training, recovery, and progress.

What makes it different from a chatbot: Coach Q can pull up your actual numbers (“how did my week go?”), spot patterns across food, training, and recovery, and suggest specific changes to your plan that you approve with a tap. The longer you use it, the better it knows you. And the sharper the coaching gets.

Each message to Coach Q costs 10 credits, and it remembers your recent conversations. You can also tune its personality. Make it warmer and more encouraging, or more direct and accountable, so the coaching style fits you.

What is the weekly check-in?

+

The weekly check-in is Coach Q's deep review of your week. It covers your nutrition, workout consistency, recovery, and progress toward your goal, all in one report.

Why it's worth doing: it also asks how you felt the week went and compares that with what the data shows. That gap, between how a week felt and how it actually went, is where most plans quietly drift. Very few apps look at it.

You'll get specific recommendations for the upcoming week. Each check-in costs 25 credits. Most people run it once a week, like a Sunday review.

Meal Planning & Recipes

What is QBod's recipe library?

+

QBod includes a curated library of over 1,000 recipes spanning 12 categories and 6+ cuisines. Every recipe comes with full macros (calories, protein, carbs, fat). Each one also has goal-based tags, like high-protein, fat-loss-friendly, meal-prep-friendly, budget-friendly, pre-workout, post-workout, kid-friendly, one-pan, and no-cook.

Is the recipe library free?

+

Yes! Browsing all 1,000+ recipes is completely free. Meal planning and grocery list generation are also free. AI-powered recipe suggestions and personalized meal recommendations use credits.

How does meal planning work?

+

Browse the recipe library and add recipes to your weekly plan. Before you cook, QBod checks whether your planned meals hit your macro targets. When you're ready, generate a grocery list with one tap and log planned meals instantly.

How does QBod handle food allergies?

+

QBod uses a severity-graded allergen system. Set each allergen as mild or severe. Severe allergens are completely excluded from search results. Mild allergens are flagged with a visible warning so you can make informed decisions. Set your allergens once in Profile and they apply everywhere.

What is goal-synchronized meal planning?

+

Your meal plan is connected to your nutrition targets. As you add recipes to your weekly plan, QBod shows whether your planned meals hit your daily macros in real-time. Suggestions adapt based on whether your goal is fat loss, muscle gain, body recomposition, or maintenance.

How do grocery lists work?

+

Once you've built a meal plan, tap "Generate Grocery List" to compile all ingredients. The list is organized by grocery section, duplicate ingredients are consolidated automatically, and you can check off items as you shop. A budget-friendly filter highlights meals under $3 per serving.

Does meal planning work with intermittent fasting?

+

Yes. QBod's meal planning is fasting-aware. It respects your eating windows when scheduling meals. If you use intermittent fasting, your planned meals will be placed within your eating window automatically.

Can I save my own recipes too?

+

Absolutely! In addition to the 1,000+ curated library, you can create and save your own recipes in the Cookbook. Add ingredients, set serving sizes, and QBod calculates the nutrition per serving automatically. You can also import a recipe from a photo or a link. QBod saves the full recipe with its macros. See our Cookbook & Meal Planning Guide for step-by-step instructions.

  • Set and track fitness goals
  • Ask Coach Q for guidance

Apple Health integration simply adds automatic activity syncing for a more seamless experience.

Q-Score & Coaching

What is my Q-Score?

+

Your Q-Score is one number for your whole body. It scores how well you executed your nutrition, fitness, and recovery, weighted to your goal. It moves slowly. It rewards the habit, not one perfect day. Think of it as a consistency meter: one glance tells you whether this week is on track. It is not a health assessment or a medical metric.

Does Coach Q help during a workout?

+

Yes, on Premium. Coach Mode coaches you live between sets, suggesting weights, reps, and exercise swaps as you go. You confirm every change.

Does my plan change over time?

+

Yes. As you log, QBod adjusts your targets and training to what your body is actually doing. When your plan changes overnight, Coach Q opens your day with a short review of what changed and why. You can accept or decline.

Can QBod help me eat out?

+

Yes. Snap a photo of the restaurant menu and Coach Q ranks the dishes that best fit your remaining macros for the day.

Can QBod suggest meals from what I have at home?

+

Yes. Snap a photo of your fridge or pantry and QBod suggests meal ideas from what you already own.

Can I bring my own workout program?

+

Yes. Photograph any printed program: a magazine page, a coach’s whiteboard, or a screenshot. QBod turns it into a real, trackable workout.

How do I log a treadmill or bike session?

+

Finish your session, then photograph the machine’s display. QBod reads the numbers and logs the workout.

Can I log my scale or blood pressure reading with a photo?

+

Yes. Photograph your smart scale, blood-pressure cuff, or glucose meter and QBod reads and logs the numbers. Always review the values before saving.

Does QBod have an Apple Watch app?

+

Yes. Start and log workouts from your wrist. Outdoor watch cardio captures your route, and you can see the map on your workout summary in the iPhone app. Location is used only while you record an outdoor workout.

Health Connect Integration (Android)

Why isn't my Health Connect data showing in QBod?

+

If your steps, workouts, or other health data aren't appearing, Health Connect permissions may need to be enabled:

  • Open Settings on your Android device
  • Search for Health Connect or find it under Apps
  • Tap App permissions
  • Find and tap QBod
  • Enable the data types you want to sync

After enabling permissions, return to QBod and your data should start syncing within a few minutes.

What data does QBod sync from Health Connect?

+

QBod can read the following data from Health Connect:

  • Activity: Steps, distance, floors climbed
  • Energy: Active calories, total calories burned
  • Workouts: Exercise sessions from your watch or fitness apps
  • Heart Rate: Current, resting, and workout heart rate
  • Sleep: Sleep duration and sleep stages
  • Body Measurements: Weight, body fat, height

QBod only reads data, we never write to your Health Connect records unless you explicitly enable write permissions.

I enabled Health Connect but still see no data

+

If permissions are enabled but data still isn't appearing, try these steps:

  • Force close and reopen QBod: Go to Settings → Apps → QBod → Force Stop, then reopen
  • Check Health Connect has data: Open Health Connect and verify your steps/activity are being recorded from your source apps
  • Try Force Sync: Go to Profile → Health Connect Integration → Force Sync
  • Toggle permissions off and on: In Health Connect → App permissions → QBod, turn permissions off, wait 10 seconds, then turn them back on

If issues persist, contact support@qbod.fit and we'll help troubleshoot.

Can I use QBod without Health Connect?

+

Yes! Health Connect integration is optional. Without it, you can still:

  • Log workouts manually using our exercise library
  • Track nutrition with photo, voice, barcode, or manual entry
  • Record body measurements and weigh-ins
  • Set and track fitness goals
  • Ask Coach Q for guidance

Health Connect integration simply adds automatic activity syncing for a more seamless experience.
